- Foster care is a system for children whose parents are unable to provide care and living.They are placed in a ward, group home or a private home of a government certified caregiver.
- This system is run by Government or a social service agency.
- Children come here under various circumstances,
. One or both parents are drug addict.
. Abuse or negligence.
. Poverty and homelessness.
. Children who needs specialized care medically and psychologically.
. Teens when in need of an alternative living due to serious conflict in home.
- The caregiver who takes care of this children is called a Foster Parent.
- Foster Care is a temporary or rarely a permanent place for children.
- Mostly they will be taken under Kinship care (Adoption by Aunt, Uncle or Grandparent).
- If not, the next preference for the child is to be adopted by foster parents.
- Foster homes for adults provide a home environment for adults with special needs. This can include disabilities, mental health issues, and aging-related conditions, such as dementia and Alzheimer's disease.
- Children who grow up here have two kinds of stories,
. Either they get a good foster care/foster Parent for time being or they live under stress, disorders which may even end up in killing themselves.
